Our Story

“Hello, I’m Brianna and The Creative Toy Shop is my baby.”

The Creative Toy Shop was born out of my first project called Notes From a Home Educator, which I founded back in 2015 on Instagram.

It had exploded into a community with over 174k social media followers in just a few years and it just keeps growing every year.

About me

I started Notes From a Home Educator project because I wanted to share my journey and knowledge as an educator. My expertise is in special needs, home education and learning through play.

As a mother of three, I want to provide support for parents and carers out there.

I'm excited to showcase our curated products from The Creative Toy Shop. These products are tried and tested and ones that I found successful myself. 

I'm also passionate about sharing tips and ideas on our blog. It's all about playful ideas and educational approach.

How it all started

When I was finishing my Bachelor of Primary Education, I was planning to work in the traditional school environment. It had always been in my heart to work in special needs education.

I worked full time for many years in the Kennedy family, caring for, and educating their four awesome boys: Preston, Indy, Dash and Freddie Fantastic who has Down Syndrome.

I was fulfilling my heart desires as I was sharing our days in Notes From a Home Educator. I believe that God brought the Kennedy family into my life for a purpose. I always wanted to work with children of all abilities, including special needs.

I truly believe in seeing the child, before seeing the diagnosis. I wanted to be able to meet the needs of each child without the limitations and constraints of working in a school environment.

Our present

The Creative Toy Shop has become a hub for 'play based learning for all abilities'. And the statement itself is our mission.

We carefully curate our range to cater for all abilities. This includes everything in our store, from toys, to activity guides and resources.

In 2020 we have launched our very own brand of toys, Learn & Grow Toys. Our magnetic tiles, ball run extensions and tile toppers have already taken the world by storm.
